Albert Mora

 

Was born in Barcelona in 1961. He began studying the flute at a young age with Salvador Gratacòs and Barbara Held, pursuing his advanced studies at the Superior School of Music of Munich with Prof. Paul Meisen and graduating with the highest evaluations. His years of appreticeship with segiu Celibidache were very influencial in his musical development, also Jean-Pierre Rampal, Robert Aitken, Barthold Kuijken and Georgy Sebök were also important names. He received a scholarschip from the Banff Center for the Arts (Canada) for a lengthy residence.

Since 1987 he has been solo flutist with the Orquestra Sinfònica del Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, where he has have the opportunity to play under conductors such as Muti, Bonynge, Weigle, among many others, and to accompany singers like Sutherland, Gruberova, Caballé, Kraus and Domingo.

Since 2002 is teacher for flute and chamber music at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (Esmuc). 

He is constantly active in chamber music and has played recitals in Europe, America and Japan, wich have frequently been broadcast on radio and television. He regularly collaborates with other orchesters such as OBC, Castilla y León, Teatre Lliure, ONCA, Cadaqués, and with the groups for contemporary music Barcelona 216, Ensemble CGAC and Grup XXI.

He has made recordings as soloist and a.o. with The Liceu Orchestra with Caballé, Aragall, Carreras. 

He has actively collaborated in the creation of symphony and chamber music series in Barcelona.

In concerts and recordings plays a “Verne Powell” wooden flute other a Muramatsu golden flute.
